Man left fighting for life after being struck by pick-up truck in Rotherham

A man has been left fighting for life after he was struck by a pick-up truck as he was loading a trailer at the side of a road.

The 69-year-old was at the side of the A57 Sheffield Road, Anston, when he was hit by a silver Mitsubishi L200 travelling towards Worksop.

Emergency services were notified at around 3pm on Saturday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said the injured man suffered ‘significant injuries to his legs.

He was taken to the Northern General Hospital hospital by air ambulance, where he is in a critical but stable condition.

The 25-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi was unharmed.
