Police officers closed off the road for a number of hours while enquiries were carried out at the scene.

A police probe into the incident is underway.

Officers want to hear from witnesses to the collision.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: " A 32-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision in the Beighton area of Sheffield yesterday.

"At around 5pm, the man was driving a red Audi A3 on the A57, travelling from Beighton Road roundabout towards Swallownest.

"On a bend, the Audi crossed over onto the opposite carriageway and there was a collision with a white Ford Transit van. mThe 32-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

"The driver of the van, a 23-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he currently remains.
