Man killed in early-morning collision with train at tunnel

A man was killed when he was struck by a train travelling to Sheffield.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was hit at the entrance to the Bradway Tunnel, a mile from Dronfield.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident yesterday, at about 4.45am.

The collision led to delays on trains for commuters between Sheffield and Chesterfield while investigations were carried out into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

British Transport Police are investigating and the coroner has been informed of the death.

There have been four collisions involving trains in the Dronfield area in the last three months.
