Man injured in flat blaze

A SHEFFIELD man was taken to hospital after banging his head when he fell after discovering a fire in his maisonette.

The man, in his 50s, left a pan on the hob which caught fire and filled his home with smoke.

Firefighters were called to deal with the incident on Leighton Drive, Gleadless.

In Worksop a police probe has been launched into how a man ended up with serious injuries in the village of Bothamsall.

Detectives launched an investigation after a member of the public found the man on Redhill Lane and raised the alarm.

The man was airlifted to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where his injuries are described as not life-threatening.

A police cordon was set up at the location where the injured man.
