Man injured in dog attack outside North East Derbyshire club

A man suffered serious injuries in a dog attack outside a North East Derbyshire club.

Police officers investigating the incident said he was bitten by two Shaffordshire bull terriers outside Renishaw Miners Welfare Club.

The 27-year-old had been involved in a scuffle outside the club moments before.

A 23-year-old man from Renishaw and a 27-year-old woman from Chesterfield have been arrested and bailed.

A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said: "At about 9pm on Friday June 24, a 27-year-old local man was allegedly grabbed around the neck and became involved in a scuffle outside the Miners Welfare Social Club.

"He was then bitten by two Staffordshire Bull Terriers. The dog bites caused serious injuries to the lower part of his body and legs.

"CCTV at the club shows a large number of people in the area at the time."
