Davies has taken charge of eight games this season, in the EFL Cup, the Championship and League Two, and dished out 27 bookings and one red card. That's an average of 3.375 yellow cards per game.

In 31 games last season he broke the 100-yellows barrier, finishing the campaign with 104 cautions and six reds.

His last Blades game was February's 3-1 victory at Reading, when he booked Chris Basham and Clayton Donaldson.

Earlier in the season he dished out seven cautions as United lost at Nottingham Forest's City Ground.

Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis said Davies and his team of officials were 'poor' in his side's game with Norwich earlier this season, which saw Davies send off Canaries defender Timm Klose for a second yellow card before rescinding the caution after discussions with his assistant.
