A man has appeared in court over the discovery of a headless and limbless body dumped on the outskirts of Sheffield.

Ming Jiang, aged 42, of Falconwood Way in the Beswick area of Manchester, has been charged with murder in connection with the discovery of the burnt body of Yang Liu in a lay-by near the Woodhead Pass between Sheffield and Manchester.

The body was found hidden in a suitcase in a parking area off the A628 to the east of Tintwistle, Derbyshire.

Jiang is accused of committing murder between October 5 and 10.

He appeared at Chesterfield Justice Centre this morning, speaking only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

He was remanded in custody until he appears at Nottingham Crown Court tomorrow.
