Man in hospital after being hit by a car in Chesterfield

Police and air ambulance were in attendance after a road traffic collision on the busy road, in the vicinity in Chesterfield.

Derbyshire police said: "An officer on patrol came across the crash at 1.05pm this afternoon.

"The incident near the Peveril island involved one Audi TT.

"A pedestrian, believed to be elderly, suffered a head injury and was taken by Air ambulance to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield."

Other reports say the incident is near the Newbold Road junction.

Police also confirmed the road is still closed as officers direct traffic away from the scene, and bus services have also been affected.
