Man hit by car on busy deal carriageway after getting out of his vehicle following a crash

A man was struck by a car as he got out of his vehicle after an earlier crash on a busy South Yorkshire dual carriageway.

The 28-year-old had been involved in a crash on Centenary Way, Rotherham, and was getting out of his vehicle when he was hit by another car at around 4.45am today.

South Yorkshire Police said the man was taken to hospital by ambulance but his injuries were not thought to be serious.

The force said: “Police were called at around 4:45am to reports of a road traffic collision on Centenary Way in Rotherham.

“It is reported that a Ford Fiesta crashed at the scene.

“The driver, a 28-year-old man, exited his vehicle and was clipped by another car, a white Nissan.

“Police and paramedics attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital via ambulance to be treated for minor injuries.

“The road was closed whilst police recovered the vehicle.”
