Man held as woman dies after being hit by tractor in Doncaster village lane

A woman has died after she was involved in a collision with a tractor while walking in a Doncaster village lane earlier today.

Emergency services were called at 11.50am this morning to reports of a collision on Newton Lane, Sprotbrough.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said that a tractor and a pedestrian were involved in the collision.

A brief statement said: “The pedestrian, believed to be a woman in her 60s, sadly suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Her family has been notified.”

A 30-year-old man is currently helping officers with their enquiries.

Local residents reported the road being cordoned off by police near to the railway bridge which crosses Newton Lane near to Newton Medical Centre in Sprotbrough with a number of emergency vehicles in attendance.
