Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Wednesday, August 17, how Timothy Adamson, 40, of Cromdale Avenue, New Whittington, Chesterfield, attacked Jane Hubbard who called police and said they had had a row over a text and her partner had pinned her down.

Prosecuting solicitor Sarah Haslam said: “Police arrested the defendant and interviewed him and he was charged based on his admissions.”

Adamson told police he had been laid in bed and there was a family argument and his partner called him a mummy’s boy and he lost his temper.

Ms Haslam added Adamson had climbed on the complainant, grabbed her arms and placed a hand over her mouth and nose and held her down before going downstairs and grabbing her by her arms and throwing her on the floor.

Adamson pleaded guilty to the assault which happened on July 28 and also admitted assaulting the complainant on July 22 after he had pulled her backwards. Defence solicitor Ian Pridham said that Adamson’s admissions showed remorse and honesty.

He added that the argument between Adamson and the complainant had happened due to family difficulties after his parents had separated.

Mr Pridham said: “Texts were being posted between his partner and his brother’s partner and the complainant woke him and the red mist came down.”

Magistrates sentenced Adamson to a 12 month community order. He was fined £170 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
