A man who was found to have a knife after he was arrested following a disturbance in Sheffield has today been jailed.
32 year old Levi Grossett was sentenced to 23 weeks behind bars having admitted possession of the blade which officers found within his coat after an incident at the Southey Green Co-op in March.
Grossett had previously entered a not guilty plea but changed his mind at Sheffield Magistrates Court this morning and was immediately sentenced.
A police spokesperson said: "The consequences of carrying a knife could be potentially fatal with a risk of a lifetime behind bars.
"The Parson Cross and Southey Green teams will not tolerate the illegal possession of potentially lethal weapons in our community.
"We will continue to bring all those who choose to put the lives of others at risk before the courts.
"Please as always, anyone who is concerned about suspicious behaviour or illegal activity within our community - get in touch on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
"We can and will take your report seriously."
