Man found with knife after Sheffield disturbance jailed for 23 weeks

A man who was found to have a knife after he was arrested following a disturbance in Sheffield has today been jailed.

32 year old Levi Grossett was sentenced to 23 weeks behind bars having admitted possession of the blade which officers found within his coat after an incident at the Southey Green Co-op in March.

Grossett had previously entered a not guilty plea but changed his mind at Sheffield Magistrates Court this morning and was immediately sentenced.

A police spokesperson said: "The consequences of carrying a knife could be potentially fatal with a risk of a lifetime behind bars.

"The Parson Cross and Southey Green teams will not tolerate the illegal possession of potentially lethal weapons in our community.

"We will continue to bring all those who choose to put the lives of others at risk before the courts.
