A MAN has died after collapsing on a pheasant shoot.

The 60-year-old was found in a field off White Lane, Ridgeway, near The Phoenix Inn pub, on Thursday morning.

He had been taking part in an organised shoot and had not been seen for some time when other members went to look for him.

Residents in nearby Charnock reported hearing gunshots and seeing an air ambulance attend the scene.

Paramedics attended but contacted Derbyshire Police when the man was confirmed to be dead.

The body was removed by an undertaker.

A police spokesman said it was not known if the man - who has not yet been formally identified - lived locally.

Chesterfield coroner’s office has been informed.
