Customer dies after falling ill at Sheffield supermarket despite efforts to revive him in store

A customer died in a Sheffield supermarket after falling ill in the store last night.

Emergency services were called by staff at the Tesco store on Montgomery Terrace Road, Upperthorpe, at around 6.30pm yesterday to inform them that a man was receiving CPR in the store.

Despite efforts to revive him he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Tesco said: “Our colleagues supported the emergency services and our thoughts are with the customer’s family and loved ones.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
