A man has died after a flat fire in Bamford.

Firefighters from Hathersage, Bradwell and South Yorkshire’s Rivelin Valley attended the incident, at a property on Brentwood Avenue just after 7.15am on Monday.

They were supported by colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service and Derbyshire police.

An investigation is currently ongoing into the cause of the fire, but Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has now confirmed that a man has sadly died as a result of the blaze.

Firefighters and Community Safety Officers will be in the area today offering fire safety advice and reassurance.

Anyone seeking advice should speak to one of the team at the Command Support Unit or Fire Service vehicles.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s friends and relatives at this time.”
