Man in critical condition after being stabbed in Sheffield

A man is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being stabbed in Sheffield.

Police were called to reports a 27-year-old man had been attacked on Ecclesfield Road between Butterwaite Lane and Bellhouse Road.

The incident is said to have taken place around 9.30pm last night. A long stretch of the road was cordoned off by police while emergency services responded to the scene.

The man was taken to Northern General Hospital with suspected stab wounds that were deemed to be life-threatening.

Police have stepped patrols in the area as they carry out enquiries into the attack.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Did you see the assault last night? Were you in the area at the time?”
