Man charged over Doncaster street robberies

A man has been charged with two street robberies in Doncaster.

Steven Thorpe, aged 28, of Windhill Crescent, Mexborough, is alleged to have been among three men who approached a 41-year-old man in Gardens Lane, Conisbrough, and stole his mobile phone and wallet.

He is also accused of a second robbery, five minutes later, where three men approached a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl in Station Road, Conisbrough, and stole the girl's bag.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred on Sunday, July 3, along with an attempted robbery Thorpe is also accused of.

Thorpe appeared at Doncaster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody until Wednesday, August 10, when he will appear at Sheffield Crown Court.

Police officers want to hear from anyone in Gardens Lane or Station Road, Conisbrough, on the night of the reported incidents.
