Man charged over attack which left Sheffield man seriously injured

A man has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm over an attack on another man in a house in Sheffield.

Philip Salkeld, of Fairthorn Road, Firth Park, Sheffield, is accused of attacking a 59-year-old man over the weekend.

Police officers were called to Fairthorn Road at 6.45pm on Saturday and found a man with serious injuries.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains today.

Salkeld is due to appear before Sheffield magistrates today.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "A 30-year-old man has been charged following an incident in Sheffield on Saturday, August 20, during which a 59-year-old man was seriously injured.

"He has been charged with grievous bodily harm. He has been remanded into custody to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court.

"A 59-year-old man was seriously injured at about 6.45pm on Saturday at a house in Fairthorn Road, Firth Park, during a domestic incident.

"He currently remains in hospital in a serious condition."
