Man charged with attempted rape of woman in Handsworth, Sheffield

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual assault on a woman in her 40s in Sheffield.

The woman was walking her dog in fields just off Grange Lane, Handsworth, when a man approached her and assaulted her at around 11.10am on Monday 2 May.

Following a public appeal for information, South Yorkshire Police have charged Patrick Munnelly, 27, of Ivy Drive, Crookesmoor, with attempted rape. He has been remanded into custody and appeared before Sheffield Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday, June 11).

Officers would like to thank anyone who came forward with information to help the inquiry.
