Man arrested over crash in Barnsley

A man has been charged with drink driving following a collision which left a motorcyclist in a serious condition in hospital.

Adam Cowlishaw, aged 25, of Market Street, Hoyland, Barnsley, is due to appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 15.

He was arrested over a collision on Wombwell Lane in Blacker Hill.

A motorcyclist was riding his red and black Honda motorbike along the road, close to the junction with Wentworth Road, when it was involved in a collision with a black Volkswagen Golf at around 3.55pm on Sunday.

Police said the biker was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

The driver of the Golf was uninjured.

Witnesses to the collision should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
