Man arrested after driver crashes car into telegraph pole on Sheffield estate

A man has been arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a collision on a Sheffield estate this morning.

He was arrested after a car crashed into a telegraph pole on Adlington Road, Parson Cross, at around 6.15am.

The crash was reported to South Yorkshire Police but when officers arrived at the scene the driver of the car had left.

A man was arrested at a nearby address on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs, dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

South Yorkshire Police said: “At 6.17am this morning, police received reports that a car had been involved in a collision with a telegraph pole.

“The driver is not believed to have stayed at the scene.”

Buses have been diverted away from the crash scene.

Firefighters were also deployed to deal with the incident earlier.
