Man appears in court charged with murdering two women

A 20-year-old man has appeared at Chesterfield magistrates' court today, Tuesday, March 1, charged with the murders of two women.

Christopher Whelan, of Dransfield Road, Sheffield, is accused of allegedly murdering Rose Hill and Julie Hill, on Thursday, February 25.

The bodies of both women were discovered at a house, on Station Road, Shirebrook, on Friday, February 26, after police and paramedics were called.

The accused’s case was committed to Nottingham Crown Court for a further hearing tomorrow, Wednesday, March 2.

Whelan was further remanded in custody.
