A man and woman arrested in Sheffield over a series of armed robberies have been released from custody.

They were arrested in Sharrow in an operation led by West Yorkshire Police on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers swooped at a property in Woodhead Road while another address in nearby South View Road was surrounded by armed police at the same time.

The arrests were made at the Woodhead Road property, it has been confirmed today, not at the South View Road address.

They formed part of an investigation into three armed robberies in Leeds - one at an off licence and two at bookmakers.

A 25-year-old Leeds man was held on suspicion of armed robbery and a 23-year-old Sheffield woman was held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The woman has since been released without charge, while the man has been released pending further enquiries.
