An elderly man was left injured and suffering chest pains following a serious collision near Sheffield.

The 76-year-old from Sheffield was driving a silver Ford Focus along the A57 Worksop Road from the direction of Todwick crossroads.

It is believed that the Focus, on driving round a sharp bend, drifted across into the opposite lane. A red and white HGV was travelling in the opposite direction, and it is believed the two vehicles collided as the lorry approached the bend.

The Focus driver was airlifted to the Northern General Hospital with chest pains.
