The 62-year-old was quizzed at Barnsley police station over alleged offences committed at Kesgrave Hall Boarding School, Suffolk.

He was also questioned over two allegations of indecent assault against a teenage boy in North Wales in 1976.

A second man, aged 65, from Pontefract in West Yorkshire, was also arrested on suspicion of a serious sexual assault and indecent assault at the school.

Both men were released on police bail until August 13.
