Man, 60s, arrested and taken to hospital after armed police swoop on Sheffield flat

A man in his 60s has been arrested and taken to hospital after a domestic incident in Sheffield this afternoon.

Unmarked police cars sped down Shirecliffe Road after being called to reports of a domestic incident at a block of flats at around 1.20pm.

Specialist resources, including negotiators, attended as there was information to suggest concerns for the welfare of a man at that property.

A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of affray and has been taken to hospital by officers.

Police said that nobody was injured during the incident.

Shirecliffe Road was closed as a precautionary measure while officers responded and was reopened at around 3pm.

Worried residents were reportedly informed early on that the incident was "nothing to do" with Monday's terror attack.
