WORRALL Male Voice Choir has recognised one of its greatest stalwarts with a special award.

Secretary Ian Pasley was given with a glittering glass decanter by Radio Sheffield presenter Gerry Kersey as part of the choir’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

The award was made in recognition of Ian’s long and dedicated service.

Having joined the choir shortly after its formation in 1970 he has for the vast majority of the time since occupied the posts of either secretary or chairman.

A choir spokesman said: “Ian has been a driving force for the progression of the choir both locally and nationally.

“He has also represented the choir on the National Association of Choirs Northern Division and been an active supporter of the Sheffield based David Clover Singers Competition.”

The choir also presented Ian’s wife Margaret with a bouquet of flowers in recognition of her support over the years.
