The award-winning Hallmark of Harmony will team up with Sheffield Harmony Ladies chorus for the concert next week at Kingfield Hall.

Barbershop chorus member Paul Lally, of Firth Park, said: “A few of our singers have lost close relatives to cancer, so when we were

approached to perform a concert we didn’t take too much persuasion. It is a fantastic cause to support.”

Since forming in 1978, Hallmark of Harmony have been named the best chorus in Britain seven times, most recently in 2014. They also represented the British Association of Barbershop Singers three times at international barbershop contests in America, as the first ever British contestants.

Most famously, the group was invited to appear on The One Show last December, tasked with teaching the BBC show’s presenters to perform a song.

Mr Lally, aged 68, added: “The One Show presenters then performed at our annual conference in Llandudno and went down an absolute storm.”

At the concert next Sunday, the group’s 60 members, ranging in age from 15 to 80, will perform a variety of different music, including hits from Marvin Gaye, Leonard Cohen and Nat King Cole, as well as famous songs from Les Miserable, all in the barbershop style.

The concert has been organised by the Sheffield Macmillan Committee, Macmillan’s longest serving committee, made up of volunteers from the local community, and all money raised will go to Macmillan services in Sheffield.
