Make the Roads Safer pledge
Families, community groups, employers and schools across the region have taken part in Road Safety Week 2016.

The annual awareness week was coordinated by charity Brake and called on all road users to make the Brake pledge and show their commitment to saving lives and keeping the roads safer.
Road users were urged to take action, make a difference and pledge to do six simple things that could save lives on the road: slowing down and staying within the speed limit, staying sober, securing their seatbelts for every journey, staying away from their phones whilst driving, staying sharp and getting their eyes tested regularly, and minimising the amount they drive - opting to walk, cycle or use public transport when possible.
Joanne Wehrle, Safer Roads education manager, said: “The Safer Roads Partnership was so pleased to once again support Brake’s National Road Safety Week.
“We called on all road users to play their part and help make South Yorkshire roads safer, not just during this campaign but throughout the year.”
