Majorettes receive £2,500 gift from property group

A SHEFFIELD majorette troupe are marching to a happier tune after receiving a £2,500 cash boost.

Norfolk Heritage Park Majorettes were given the donation by The Horbury Group, a Rotherham-based property and construction company, which will pay the rent for their training facilities for the next 12 months.

Sandra Ashworth, manager of the majorettes, said: “We are over the moon that Horbury have made such a generous donation to us. The funds will enable us to use the Centre in the Park facility for training over the coming year.

“We have been involved in raising our own funds through tombolas and other events for some time now, but the money we have raised was needed for the purchase of new outfits for the team.”

Trevor Wragg, managing director of the Horbury Group, said: “The Norfolk Heritage Park Majorettes provide a great team environment for children and young adults to participate in.

“We felt that the money would be a real bonus to the team and will help the troupe practice hard for their forthcoming competitions.”

Members of the 37-strong team, aged from five to 18, are set to perform at a national competition in Scarborough on October 12.

They also regularly appear at fetes and carnivals throughout the year.
