PLANS have been announced for 250 new homes next to what was one of Europe’s most polluted industrial sites.

Taylor Wimpey has revealed proposals to build 270 new homes on land adjacent of the former Avenue coke works, off Derby Road, Wingerworth, south of Chesterfield.

The plans also include upgrading access to the main Avenue site, which is being cleaned up for redevelopment.

The first of a series of displays about Taylor Wimpey’s plans is being held at The Church Centre, All Saints Church, Longedge Lane, Wingerworth, from 3.30pm until 7.30pm on Thursday, August 30.
