Major delays as fire crews cut woman from car after three-vehicle smash on Sheffield Parkway

A woman is being cut from her car after a three-vehicle smash on Sheffield Parkway tonight.

Motorists are reporting that traffic is at a standstill on Sheffield Parkway due to the incident.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it is on scene on the A57 Sheffield Parkway, just before the Catcliffe junction, the B6533.

At the time of writing, fire crews were in the process of trying to cut a woman free who is trapped inside a car.

UPDATE: Police have just closed the Sheffield Parkway after the Handsworth junction.

A witness on scene sent this photo of motorbike riders driving THE WRONG WAY back through the queuing traffic.

She said: “There are ambulances trying to get through, and police have just blocked the road from the Handsworth junction.

“Bikers are driving the wrong way through the lanes to get off.

“A van just went back the wrong way too. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Motorists are advised to avoid Sheffield Parkway if at all possible.
