Magnificent seven from Chesterfield’s The Seventy

Highly promising Chesterfield band The Seventy have a new EP called “Story For The Lads” which contains seven songs which are all the band’s own wonderful material.

The Seventy is an Indie-Rock band which formed in 2012 and consists of James Horne, Andy Bradley, Richard Pell, Matt Evans and Will Watson.

To say that the band was formed in 2012 and only really started performing in 2013, they really perform well together in this EP with great sounds from the vocals all the way through to the drums.

The lyrics are strong and meaningful with a variety of styles of music used with songs like ‘There’s No Way’ and ‘Binoculars’ which show how talented this band is having created the lyrics and music themselves.

Story For The Lads is a brilliant EP for Indie Rock fans and the music is of a professional, tight, polished standard created by a band which is building support and a great name for themselves.

The EP was recorded at The Tree House Studio called “Story For The Lads” and was produced by Jim Pinder and is well worth a listen.

The Seventy were launched after a support slot with the Chesterfield band “The Chosen Rejects”, they have gone on to headline a Tramlines venue in Sheffield, played some amazing events at Chesterfield’s Real Time Live and hosted Halloween events in 2013 and 2014.

Their support for charities has included Hope4Mae which has helped 4-year-old Mae Fox who has Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.

They have also covered the famous David Bowie song ‘Heroes’ for the Help for Heroes charity and have also recorded a cover of ‘Ho Hey’ for charity.

They also made their own version of Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know Its Christmas’ focusing on Chesterfield.

The Seventy are off to a great start with their own original material and have a pedigree for great live performances after gigs at The Leadmill and headlining at the O2 in Sheffield this year.

Their new EP boasts seven originally, crafted songs with meaningful song-writing and thought-provoking lyrics.

“Take Me As I Am” is a fantastically moving rock-style ballad worthy of much wider recognition and captures the band’s spirit and burgeoning talent.

Of the album’s tracks, “Unwanted”, “There’s No Way” and “Old Man Time” are also available on iTunes.

Songs from The Seventy have also featured regularly on BBC Introducing Sheffield and East Midlands so you may have heard them before.

The really good news is that there is still plenty more of The Seventy’s own material that has yet to be recorded, so the band have even more offerings for the future.
