Three lanes of the southbound M1 near South Yorkshire are shut this morning following a crash involving multiple vehicles.

Motorway cameras show traffic is at a near standstill in all lanes on the major commuter route following the crash between J29 with the A617 near Chesterfield and J28 with the A38 near Mansfield.
The RAC reports three lanes are closed following the collision at 7.24am this morning (October 6).

Hide AdCommuters are being warned to find alternative routes or avoid the area while police deal with the incident.
Update: The incident was cleared as of 9.15am and traffic is now moving well again.
It is understood no one was seriously hurt in the incident.
Highways England has been contacted for a comment.
