SUPER fast South Yorkshire boy racer Luke Whitworth is moving forward fast.
Just weeks after testing his mettle in a Formula BMW single-seater, the Rotherham karting star has stepped up a gear after a run in a Ginetta G40.
The G40 is considered the perfect learning tool for a car racing rookie – and the 16-year-old Wickersley-based speed demon enjoyed his outing behind the wheel.
He said: “It was a brilliant day and it has definitely opened my eyes to options for the future.
“I didn’t expect the Ginetta to be that different but it was actually massively different – heavier, not as stiff, and going round corners it moves around more.
“It was certainly a big step-up from a kart, with the clutch and gears to get used to and the weight shift to have to think about as well.”
His instructor Ian Parsons, a former international karting star, tipped the Wickersley School and Sports College student for a bright future.
He said: “He has a lot of natural ability and genuinely listened and took notice of what we were saying and acted upon it.
“Luke was definitely one of the most talented drivers on the day.”
