IF THIS handsome hound were to advertise himself on a lonely hearts page he’d probably say: “Faithful, sometimes stubborn, seeks loving new home to call his own forever. Hobbies include walking, fun, frolics, fetch, games and dining in.”

And Tony Benham, RSPCA Sheffield branch animal care manager, would verify that.

Tony said: “Elmo is a gorgeous, cream, pointer-cross labrador, who ideally is looking for new owners who have had some experience with working breeds and who would be willing to put time into training him - something well worth the effort with this wonderful dog.

“Aged about 10 months old, Elmo already looks to the manner-born with his marble- speckled, cream-coloured coat and majestic stance.

Tony said: “He’s real marvel to meet and everyone who sees him says ‘gosh what a gorgeous dog’.

“He has no known health problems.

“We believe he could probably live with another quiet dog.

“He loves his food and a good play, but these are the areas that will require the most obedience training as he can be possessive over them.

“He is quite an independent dog who likes human company and affection but he isn’t overly demanding of it.

“There isn’t anything he tries to avoid and he’s robust and energetic.

“As he is a big, bouncy, boisterous boy, it would be better if potential new owners have any children, that they are older teenagers.

“Elmo ideally needs two 30 to 40 minute walks a day.”
