The One Direction singer will line up in the annual charity football match which will take place at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium on June 5.

The football mad star, who was last week at the centre of a row with Doncaster Rovers fans after winning a competition to design the club's new away kit, will play against a Rest Of The World team as part of an England side, partly managed by fellow pop star Robbie Williams.

Olly Murs, Marvin Humes and Jack Whitehall are some of the names who will play alongside Louis.

The Rest Of The World team is being captained by Welsh actor and Unicef ambassador Michael Sheen with proceeds from the match going to the charity.

Soccer Aid was started by Robbie Williams, and has since raised more than £17m for Unicef through donations and ticket sales.

Louis said "I'm really excited to play in this year's Soccer Aid event.

"Unicef as a charity, and its workers, continue to amaze me and helping even in this small way is a privilege."
