Lottery grant helps charity expand service with new van

A Sheffield charity is expanding its services thanks to a Lottery grant.

Shopmobility Sheffield can now offer delivery after purchasing a van with funding from the Lottery.

The charity – which has bases on Eldon Street in the city centre and at Crystal Peaks shopping centre in Waterthorpe – is using the vehicle to deliver mobility scooters and wheelchairs to people’s homes, pick up broken scooters and move equipment between sites.

It had used Supertram to move equipment, but this became more difficult when Supertram changed its rules on what mobility scooters were allowed on trams.

Mark Arber, project manager, said the charity applied to the Lottery explaining the need for a van and found out they were successful in March.
