A South Yorkshire service for victims of rape and sexual abuse has received nearly £500,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

Barnsley Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Services help to improve the health and wellbeing of people affected by sexual violence.

A Lottery spokesman said: “The project will provide a helpline staffed by qualified counsellors or trained helpline workers using the same system rape support centres use to enable people to seek support whilst maintaining control of their own situation.”
