AN ADDITIONAL kerbside recycling service is being launched in Barnsley.
From April, plastic bottles will be collected from households in the west of the borough – with the remainder of residents receiving the service by the end of September.
Glass and cans are already collected from homes.
The decision follows a successful pilot scheme which started in September and which saw residents increase their recycling by almost 11 per cent.
The council plans to spend £75,000 on an information campaign to make residents aware of the service.
Sheffield Council is changing how it collects recycling in April, with people able to choose which materials they put in blue bins and boxes.
Details of the arrangements will be publicised over the coming weeks.
