Looking at the benefits of mentoring

Pioneering coach and mentor Bob Garvey is planning to condense 15 years of research and 30 years of practical experience into a one-hour lecture investigating the history and meaning of mentoring, when he delivers his inaugural lecture as a Sheffield Hallam University professor.

Prof Garvey has a PhD in mentoring from Durham University and is an experienced researcher, teacher and consultant with experience in a wide range of business sectors including large and small organisations, private and public sector. He has developed mentoring schemes for organisations including HBoS, Barclays Bank, Smurfit and a range of SMEs.

His recent work includes mentoring and coaching research and consultancy within the NHS and the East of England Development Agency. Prof Garvey is to deliver his lecture on Wednesday Nov-ember 7.
