Lock up your cars, Sheffielders told, after spate of tool thefts

A number of incidents reported today involved tools being stolen from cars and vans in various suburbs.

Hand tools like power drills were on thieves' stealing list, along with dashcams and cash.

A couple of reports to police involved offenders fleeing in a silver Vauxhall Astra.

This happened at Kilvington Crescent, Woodthorpe at 7.42pm yesterday. The door of a car was damaged and tools were taken.

The offenders were described as wearing black clothing and leaving in an Astra.

A similar car was described as a getaway vehicle in an incident about half an hour later, and less than two miles away, at Youlegreave Drive, Frecheville.

There, offenders were seen prising a van door open and stealing items from inside.

Power drills were taken from a vehicle on Brook Lane, Hackenthorpe, between 7.45pm and 8.50pm yesterday.

There was no damage to the vehicle.

Hand tools were also taken from a vehicle on Rainbow Grove, Hackenthorpe, at 8.20pm yesterday.

Police said an electronic device was used to open the van door.

Between 9pm and 9.30pm another car was targeted in Hackenthorpe, with an electronic device used to gain entry.

Cash was taken in the early evening during a robbery at High Street, Mosborough.

Thieves entered by damaging a lock on the french doors at the back of the property.

Two males were disturbed by a neighbour at Richmond Hall Drive, Intake, on Wednesday night.

Potential thieves damaged the garage door and rear door of the property before being spooked and fleeing at about 10.20pm
