A litter enforcement officer has been caught on camera launching a foul-mouthed tirade after mistakenly accusing a man of dropping a cigarette butt.

Joe Hooley from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, who went to court after a litter enforcement officer accused him of throwing a cigarette butt on the floor. The incident was captured on camera and ended in a foul mouthed tidade from the officer. Joe Hooley, 57, had been accused of dropping the fag end by enforcement officer Chris Buckle, but after denying the offence and refusing to pay the £75 fine, the case went to court. However it was thrown out last Friday (6/5) after Joe was given footage of the incident in preparation for his defence ahead of his proposed trial. Joe said he turned up at Barnsley Magistrates' Court, South Yorks., ready for the trial but was told it wouldn't be going ahead due to lack of evidence. He believes the sweary diatribe at the end of the video was part of the reason to drop the case.

However it was thrown out of Barnsley Magistrates Court on May 6 after Mr Hooley was given footage of the incident in preparation for his defence ahead of his proposed trial.

The footage shows Mr Buckle, employed by security firm Kingdom Ltd, attempting to shut off the camera before shouting abuse.
Mr Hooley was talking to a friend in the street when Mr Buckle and a woman approached him. Mr Buckle said that he had dropped a cigarette and he would be fined £75.
Mr Hooley then replied: ‘I’ve not been smoking, look you can’t see a cigarette on the floor’ causing Mr Buckle to swear at him.
