Listen to the electorate

I agree with Max Nottingham (August 5) that voting should be made compulsory, as it is in Australia.

This should make MPs behave themselves, listen more to the electorate’s views and concerns and to boost turnout at general elections.

Compulsory voting would strengthen democracy.

I would like to see the pointless, outdated and undemocratic House of Lords abolished and replace it with a properly elected system of ministers representing England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the counties of the UK and rename the second chamber, The House of Nations and Regions.
