Lip sync battle to be held in Sheffield to thank city hospital

Sheffield is to host its own version of the Lip Sync Battle television show - to raise cash for charity.

The fundraiser at Crookes Social Club at 7.30pm tomorrow was organised to give something back to Jessops Maternity Wing, where one-year-old Coby Brennan spent 12 weeks after being born prematurely.

Family and friends of the Southey Green baby hope to raise £2,000 with contestants sponsored to mime songs in on-stage battles.

Coby’s mum, Julie Brennan, said: “Coby struggled to breathe and had to be fed by a tube. It was a 12 week roller coaster. He got better, then worse, before getting better again. He stopped breathing but Jessops saved him.

“The staff there see and go through so much each and every day and but they’re always there to support you. They do an absolutely amazing job and though we can never ever thank them enough, we wanted to do something to give a little back to them.”
