Lions' sports event a fun day to remember

DONCASTER'S Sandall Park was packed on Saturday as it hosted a regional sports event.

The venue saw special needs youngsters and adults from all over Yorkshire and the East Midlands arriving to take part in the 27th Lions Fun and Sports Day.

Chairman of Doncaster Council, Coun Tony Sockett, got the event off to a start by performing the opening ceremony before the competitors launched into the games.

Everyone who took part was awarded a celebratory medal to mark the occasion ,with trophies handed to the competition winners.

Events ranged from five a side football to wellie throwing.

Doncaster Lion Barry Goforth said Lions clubs from around the region had made the event a day to remember.
