A lifetime achievement

I would like to sincerely thank, the committee of the Greno Chase, for giving me a lifetime achievement award, at the recent Chase, July 22, 2016.

I have supported this event, ever since my first entry, aged 13, ( 1974 ), which was my one and only appearance, at junior level and thereafter, I have entered every senior race, held, since.

However, in 2014, I was diagnosed, with a serious heart condition, which effectively spelled the end to my Chase career.

I always loved entering the Chase, despite never doing particularly well, but enjoyed taking part and the carnival atmosphere, the Chase created, in the village.

I continue to support the Chase and the committee, now, by assisting setting up and dismantling, the course, and marshalling the roads, during the race, which I will happily continue.

So, again, many thanks to Pete and Gaynor Hughes, his lovely daughters and the rest of the committee, for organising this event, every year and for this most unexpected recognition, a very pleasant surprise, indeed.

A very humbling moment.
