GRADUATE James Richardson is setting sail on a new career – after completing his initial phase of Royal Navy officer training.

James, from Ecclesall, has passed out from his course at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.

The 24-year-old former pupil of Brookfield Community School, Chesterfield, joined the Navy in May after graduating from Hull University in applied physics.

His parents, Elizabeth Scott and Tim Richardson, travelled to Dartmouth to witness James’s passing-out parade.

Sub-lieutenant Richardson has now started an initial warfare officer course at the college, where he will continue to develop his skills.
