READERS have helped Sheffield Libraries scoop a silver medal award in the national Six Book Challenge.

Sheffield Libraries were awarded silver, at the Reading Agency’s Awards ceremony, for having 142 participants complete this year’s challenge.

The Six Book Challenge encourages reluctant adults into reading for pleasure by challenging them to read six books over five months, and write a review of each book.

The award was presented by bestselling author Adele Parks, the Six Book Challenge Ambassador for 2012, at a ceremony in London.

Coun Karen McGowan, who collected the award for Sheffield Council, said: “It is fantastic to be rewarded for the work that we have been doing in Sheffield to support adults to improve their reading skills.”
